How to create an eBook - Step by Step

Step 1 - Create a Blank Publication

• Click on "Blank publication" under the Create New Publication section.
• On the next screen, enter the name of the Publication: this will be the title of the ebook displayed by the Mobipocket Reader on your PDA/smartphone
• Choose the  folder where you want to store the publication files. The Creator will automatically create a subfolder in this folder, with the name of the publication
• The default folder is the one you specified in the Application Settings, or the My Documents folder if you didn't change the original settings.
• Click on Create to goto the next step

Step 2 - Add items to the publication

• You can add existing HTML or image files (GIF, JPEG, PNG, BMP)
• To add a file, click on the "Add File (Item)" link in the Available Actions in the left pane
• You can also drag and drop multiple HTML or image files into the Publication Files window
• To update an entry in the publication list, double-click on it, or click on the Properties link.

Step 3 - Add a Cover page (optional)

• Click on the Cover Image link in the left pane of the Publication Files view.

Step 4 - Add a Table of Contents (optional)

• Click on the Table of Contents link in the left pane of the Publication Files view.

Step 5 - Build the ebook

• Click on the Build icon in the task bar at the top of the screen
• Choose the Encryption option. View more details on Security options
• Click on the Build button: the progression bar displays the remaining build time. You can cancel a build in progress
• When the build is completed, the Creator displays the final build screen with options to test and read the ebook on your PC, and send to your PDA
