G'day

I have installed mobipocket reader 5.2. 547 on my PC and can't install/add a device.
I have connected my Motorola A1000 via the Desktop Suite software 1.0.0.668.

There is no desktop software for PDA detected.

So I installed software via download I found in the forum. For the A1000, version 546.

If i connect via USB or bluetooth I can't seem to see my A1000 in mobipocket reader for PC.

HELP... I'd love to use the sync features. Especially for RSS feads.

Thanks.
Berowne.

Make sure you do the following.
1. Connect to your PC using either USB or Bluetooth. Then in Tools and Desktop Suite on your A1000, click on Connect.
2. Then dobule clikc the Motorola Desktop Suite in your System Tray on your PC.
3. In the Settings menu on your desktop suite you need to choose the corect settings.
4. You should now be ready to Synchronize.

good luck

The description is a little vague.
In Destktop Suite, I have options to sync with outlook and lotus notes.
I thought mobipocket reader would be sync'ed via Mobipocket Reader...

Further details would help

Thanks.

Hello,

unfortunately, synchronization of eNews and annotations between teh Mobipocket Reader Desktop and the A1000 is not supported at this point. This is because there is currently no public API in the A1000 Desktop Suite that allows third party application to add their own synchronization mechanism.

You can still install the Mobipocket Reader and transfer books manually to your A1000. Let me know if you need more details on how to do that.

Best regards,

Fabien

I believe Motorola do have a software API for C++ and Java that is open and accessible. You probably do need to register with Motorola.

Also, if you need an A920 to test with, I could donate one for a worty cause.

Secondly, I believe Mobipocket 4.? did have the ability to sync with the A1000, which is why I was annoyed when the feature was 'depricated'.

Hello Berowne,

Motorola does have software APIs for C++ and Java (I have downloaded the SDKs for the A1000, M1000 and the A925). But these APIs are on the phone only and not for the Desktop Suite. So far, none of the Motorola Desktop Suites has a documented API.

Mobipocket Reader Desktop does however support the Motorola Desktop Suite for the A925/A920. This is because this specific Desktop Suite uses a COM component that was provided and documented Symbian. However, the later Desktop Suites (for the A1000 and the M1000) do not have this component anymore.

It might be possible that initially the Desktop Suite for the A1000 was the same as the Desktop Suite for the A920/A925, or that the Desktop Suite for the A920/A925 also works with the A1000. To me, that would be the only explanation why you were able to synchronize the A1000 with Mobipocket.

Best regards,

Fabien
